A day at the lathe exploring end-grain turning through the making of a small wooden jug.
This course is for those who’ve already turned a bowl or two and want to deepen their understanding of tool control, wall thickness, and form.

You’ll turn your own jug from start to finish - working with end grain to create a fine rim, hollow interior, and smooth profile. Once shaped, you’ll carve and refine a spout by hand, giving the piece both character and function.
In the afternoon, you’ll experiment with surface decoration and finishing on one of my pre-turned and dried jugs - using milk paint, oil, and wax to explore texture, contrast, and colour.
You’ll go home with two finished pieces: one made by you, and one decorated by you.

It’s a quiet, absorbing day - a chance to hone your turning, explore design, and enjoy the slow rhythm of shaping wood as it spins.
