12cm x 10cm
A larger lidded canister turned from alder, with the grain carefully oriented to create strong, resilient side walls. The surface is painted in a rich sea green using traditional milk paint, then sealed with food-safe oil and Cornish beeswax.
The quartersawn oak lid shows fine medullary rays and fits with a smooth friction seal — opening with a satisfying pop. Below, hand-carved facets catch the light and add a quiet texture to the form — subtle, sculptural, and made to be handled.
Named after Cadgwith, a sheltered fishing cove on the Lizard Peninsula, where stone, salt, and sea meet in close quarters. Like its namesake, this piece is practical, weathered, and rooted in use.
Each canister is made slowly by hand and finished to reveal both the wood’s strength and its surface character.
