23cm x 6cm
A shallow serving bowl turned from green beech and dried slowly to allow a soft wave to form at the rim. Around the outside, carved squares hold diagonal lines that criss-cross in different directions — evoking ancient field systems seen from above, or the memory of woven cloth etched in wood.
The surface is built up in layered coats of milk paint, then gently worn back by hand to create the appearance of something long used — an heirloom unearthed or a vessel passed from hand to hand through time. The final finish of food-safe oil and Cornish beeswax protects the surface while allowing its age-like character to shine through.
The name Keverel Gwyrdh combines two Cornish words: keverel, meaning interwoven, and gwyrdh, meaning pattern. Together they speak to a piece rooted in repetition, care, and the quiet labour of land and craft.
Smaller in scale than some of the other show pieces, this bowl carries no less presence — thoughtful in form, rich in texture, and full of quiet history.
