Lughvos – Copper-Wrapped Pendant Shade

19cm x 15cm
Each Lughvos pendant shade is turned from green beech and left to dry slowly, allowing its form to settle into an organic wave — a soft, natural curve shaped by the quiet movement of the timber. No two are the same: each piece carries its own contour, grain, and gesture.
At the crown sits a hand-beaten copper cap, fastened in place with traditional copper boat nails. Around the lower edge, a generous band of reclaimed copper wraps the shade — patinated using seawater to encourage deep blue-green tones that echo sea-worn metal, harbour walls, and coastal cliffs. The copper complements the painted beech below, reflecting colour and catching light.
When lit, the grain of the wood comes to life — glowing softly from within, the light shaped by the shade’s natural form and enriched by the textures of wood and copper. It’s not just a light, but a vessel for atmosphere — sculptural by day, luminous by night.
The name Lughvos is drawn from Cornish — a blend of lugh (light) and fos (shelter or hollow) — a poetic nod to the bowl-like shape and the quiet pool of light it casts.
Finished with food-safe oil and Cornish beeswax, each pendant comes ready to wire with a brass or copper fitting (optional).
A piece that bridges craft and interior architecture — bold, elemental, and full of presence.
