Munys Trethvenn Tray

A compact companion to the larger Trethvenn, this smaller version is crafted with the same care, precision, and balance of materials. The tray is made from quartersawn oak, chosen for its distinctive medullary rays — pale, glinting lines that shimmer across the surface like tide marks in fine sand.

Two steambent ash handles arc gently from each side, joined with hand-cut dovetails that secure the handles not just visually but structurally. The curve of the ash and the flat plane of the oak meet in quiet harmony, giving the piece both function and sculptural poise.

Finished with Hassui, a Japanese wood treatment that renders the surface hydrophobic and easy to clean without compromising the look or feel of the timber. It’s a rare and effective finish — elegant, subtle, and long-lasting.

The name Munys Trethvenn means “Small Smooth Shore” — a nod to its scale, but also to its clarity, refinement, and calm.
