A wide, sculptural bowl turned from green beech, then dried slowly to allow the rim to move — creating a gentle wave that feels shaped by time and tide.

Around the outside runs a bold herringbone pattern, carved by hand — echoing the dry-stone boundary walls found across North Cornwall’s slate country. In those walls, the pattern is structural, anchoring stone to stone. Here, it offers rhythm, texture, and memory — lines that hold the form, but also suggest the passing of one thing into another.

Finished in a deep sea blue using traditional milk paint, and sealed with food-safe oil and Cornish beeswax, the surface catches light and shadow like water over slate.

The name Oryon comes from the Cornish word for boundary — a quiet reference to the edges that shape land, field, and self.

Each bowl is one of a kind — hand-carved, rooted in place, and made to be seen as much as used.
