26cm x 12cm
A commanding bowl with a strong sense of lift and presence. Turned from green beech and allowed to dry slowly, its form is defined by a deep hollow foot that raises the bowl on a pedestal — not just physically, but in feel. This elevation sets it apart, giving it both gravitas and grace.
The outer surface is painted in a deep sea green using layered milk paint, then sealed with food-safe oil to reveal a surface that feels as if it has weathered through time. At one side, a single copper repair catches the eye: a reclaimed sheet of copper, patinated with seawater and stitched into place with copper wire. The mend is both honest and beautiful — a quiet act of care and continuation.
The name Roswydh means “high place” in Cornish — a name that honours both the physical elevation of the form and the quiet dignity it carries. It calls to mind a headland, a lookout, or a place from which to gain perspective.
This is a vessel with weight and stillness. A bowl that stands above, shaped by hand, marked by time, and made to last.
