40cm x 22cm

A tray of rare clarity and quiet complexity, crafted from a single piece of quartersawn oak selected for its striking medullary rays — shimmering bands of light and line that shift as the grain catches the eye. The surface is smooth and structured, revealing the natural architecture of the wood beneath the finish.

Two sweeping handles arc from either side, made from steambent ash and joined with dovetails cut directly into the oak board — a method both beautiful and strong. The curves are generous and tactile, giving the piece a presence more sculptural than domestic.

The tray is finished with Hassui, an exceptional Japanese wood treatment that impregnates the fibres with silica, making the surface hydrophobic, stain-resistant, and easy to clean while retaining the warmth of natural wood. The result is a piece that’s as practical as it is poised — one that can serve, display, or simply hold space with quiet grace.

The name Trethvenn means “smooth shore” in Cornish — a reference to the polished, wave-worn feeling of the form and the coastlines that inspired it.

A tray made with care, intention, and rare materials — precise, understated, and built to last a lifetime.
